This morning, Valerie and I took Owen and Emma to the Dallas Zoo! Emma is a zoo veteran, but this was Owen's first time! He really took it all in and enjoyed himself!! Every animal was a burr (Owen speak for bird), a fisshh (Owen for fish -- the end is real drawn out) or a bubba (any animal that was not a burr or a fisshh). Guess what was even more exciting to see in the cages than the burrs and bubbas? You probably guessed it--balls! If the animal had a ball in the enclosure to play with, well, Owen didn't miss it! You can guaranty we all knew there was a ball in there.
Here's Owen taking in the giant turtles ("hey, bubba")
he has put the snacks down and is leaning in for a closer look ("ooooh, bubba!")
checking out the elephants ("hi, bubba")...
the giraffes ("hi, bubba")....
...and the otters ("ooooh, bubba!")....
Then, we hit the children's zoo. This area was pretty neat. Owen and Emma enjoyed the play equipment and sandbox for a bit...

Both kiddos kept getting on this little lamb...
after climbing on the lamb, we headed for the ponies! For $2, they could ride around on one! Emma hopped right on!! It was so cute! Did Owen? No siree! He has started using the word "no" and shaking his head no this week...that new skill came in handy today to tell mama "no, no, no" to riding bubba! We tried again about 30 minutes later...guess what? He meant it...no, no, no, bubba! So, no pony ride for Owen. Maybe next time.
